oh yea it snowed!

Well they say that it was about 20". I don't know but it sure is the most snow that I have seen in a long while. I went for a short walk this evening, it was more like a slow shuffle because not much has been dug out yet! Took some pictures around the farm and of the creek behind the house, across the field which was a bright lush green before the snow as it is planted in winter wheat, and the old well house. Sure looks like it's going to be a white Christmas!

The Trouble with Elves

Have you ever received a Christmas present that just makes you scratch your head and wonder..... Why did someone give me this? I don't just mean the socks and underwear type of stuff. I mean the really puzzling things. For example.... When I was around 8 or 9 years old I had a Great Aunt who presented me with a large wonderfully wrapped package. Which I tore into with great enthusiasm. Paper flying, bow ripping, box tearing, after which I peered down inside to discovered that it contained a single piece of drift wood. Just wood... nothing else. After seeing the bewildered look on my face the adults came to investigate and it was declared that the box was not mine and was actually meant for someone else. It's this sort of strange event that makes me think that there are troublesome elves. The kind that like to switch presents at the very last minute. So I made Ed. (now listed on Ebay)
Now all strange presents can have meaning. Get a bad present... Ed did it. Give a bad present....Ed made me do it! I'm even thinking he could carry the blame for other mysteries such as why half a strand of lights goes out only after you have hung them on the tree; never while your checking them. Ahhhh... It feels good to be able to pass on the blame! I do have one question though. I still wonder.... who did end up getting that piece of drift wood?
