At some point the topic changed over the the coming of fall and with it Halloween. I'm not sure when or how but something about vegetables being made into carved Halloween decorations came up. I then began musing over "what could scare a Jack O' Lantern ?" Huge muntant groundhogs? Fire breathing deer? How about a vampire rabbit? A cunning little bunny who flys swiftly through the brisk night air. Searching for exactly the right sweet juicy pumpkin to swoop in and take a little nibble of. Oh sure he would be harmless enough to us humans, but just imagination if you were a pumpkin!

Halloween is right around the corner!

Vampires with bow ties, Witches with spiders, and little red devils! Once a year we migrate north for a wonderful vacation at "The Blue House" as my six year old refers to it. (The cabin we stay in is painted blue.) "The Blue House" is located in North Hero, VT and has a beautiful view across the lake. Not being a great fisherman, usually I choose to drive around the northern parts of Vermont to see what I can see. And there sure are lots of things to see, creeks, mountains, covered bridges, waterfalls, big old barns, and of course cows, lots of cows. I daydream of how lovely it would be to live there enjoying the piece and quite, soaking in the gorgeous views, then the reality of how much snow they must get sets in........Hmmmm maybe I could get some of those battery heated socks.

Chickens of the world unite!

Stand up and be counted! I say bump that bunny from his throne, and take your place as the kings and queens of Easter!

A Bunnies Body.

Ever since I was very small I could remember a particular Christmas decoration that we set out every year. His name is Mr. Jingle and he is a fairly large type of knee hugger elf. I have always loved the different positions that his legs can be placed in .(One day I will see if I dig him out of his summer hibernation spot in the shed with the rest of the sleeping Christmas ornaments and snap a picture.) Anyway, I would rearrange his legs in all different ways and have such a great time. When I started making these small dolls the same thing came to mind. So most are made with a bendable knee and stitched together hands for lots of posing fun. Huggable knees are just cute for the elves to keep all to themselves.

There are Bunnies about!

I have been practicing with the paper mache clay and am getting a better feel for it. I don't know but it sure is the most snow that I have seen in a long while. I went for a short walk this evening, it was more like a slow shuffle because not much has been dug out yet! Why did someone give me this? I don't just mean the socks and underwear type of stuff. I mean the really puzzling things. For example.... When I was around 8 or 9 years old I had a Great Aunt who presented me with a large wonderfully wrapped package. Which I tore into with great enthusiasm. Paper flying, bow ripping, box tearing, after which I peered down inside to discovered that it contained a single piece of drift wood. Just wood... nothing else. After seeing the bewildered look on my face the adults came to investigate and it was declared that the box was not mine and was actually meant for someone else. It's this sort of strange event that makes me think that there are troublesome elves. The kind that like to switch presents at the very last minute. So I made Ed. (now listed on Ebay)

Now all strange presents can have meaning. Get a bad present... Ed did it. Give a bad present....Ed made me do it! I'm even thinking he could carry the blame for other mysteries such as why half a strand of lights goes out only after you have hung them on the tree; never while your checking them. Ahhhh... It feels good to be able to pass on the blame! I do have one question though.
